IP
The definition of IP in video games stands for intellectual property and is talked about when a developer or publisher talks about a brand new game, a bought game
an example of IP would be god of war, as it's their own intellectual property. An original IP is god of war as it's their own original game., this is good for studios and audiences as the own original game is what the audiences want. Basically an intellectual property is conveyed as any individual franchise or series in the games industry so for example Super Mario bro's is an Intellectual Property, Halo is an intellectual property and god of war is an intellectual property. Anytime a new game is released that is 'unique' that no other game has been released in that series is classified as a "New intellectual property"
New series examples are:
Resident evil 6
Skyrim
Max payne 3
Syndicate
Mass effect 3
Final fantasy 13-2
These are all established Intellectual properties, nothing "new" setting wise to make it a new IP as it already has a pre-established setting.
Dragons dogma would be a new IP because it's a game that features unexplored territory as you purchase these games without being familiar with all the characters as it's the "First time you've seen them".
IP means not only a new game but a new series aswell, Examples for this are Brink, Bulletstorm, Mindjack etc New IP's seem to congregate at the start of a new console cycle or at the end as Mass effect, Uncharted, Assassins creed & gears of war are all new IP's from the past 11 years and companies love to make new IP's at the start of a new cycle as this means new technology such as the playstation 4 or xbox one allows them to expand massively and new IP's allow the game developers to create a new series without restriction from their other previous series as an example.

SEQUEL SPIN OFF TITLES
In video game terms, media, spin off is usually any narrative work from already existing content that focuses on a specific character, event or a topic. it's derived from already existing work.
recent example of a sequel spin off title would be the nun movie as it's associated with a popular movie, and the 'nun' becomes his own character because of these spin offs, a spin off is a series based off another series and a game example would be resident evil operation raccoon city because although raccoon city is one of the main settings and places in resident evil, a whole new set of characters come across raccoon city and the game doesn't link with the time events it's set as the same time as resident evil 2 and resident evil 3 nemesis as the game follows a bunch of umbrella corp. mercenaries which is one of the main antagonist groups in the resident evil series.

A spin-off may be also called a sidequel when it exists in the same timeframe and sometimes spin offs are often used when a show or a game isn't a spin off and there becomes a crossover where a character from one game makes an appearance on another, Sometimes crossovers are created to "save" a failed game or tv series but thats not really popular.

DISCOUNT SALES
Discount sales are when games are sold for cheaper than the usual price of the release, usually microsoft and sony have discount sales on their online store and are usually sales promotions and they can be either directed at the customer, sales staff, or distribution members. Discount sales are implemented to attract new customers, to hold customers in place and keep them buying things or to counteract competition and to take huge advantage of opportunities that are revealed by markets. Discounts impact the way customers think and act when they're browsing for something to buy as the types of saving can impact someones behaviour such as "half price" or "75% off" and this entices people to buy the product. The most common"sales and discounts" are "price discounts" and "bonus packs" as the discounts are a reduction of the original sale price by a certain percentage and often the bonus packs are bought a lot more as you're saving more money and getting extra content. Many companies advertise their sales to gain more money.

These discounts sales are usually what bring people into buying games and is ideal for the company to make more money. Steam, xbox and playstation do this
The audience would feel
the studios have advantage in this situation because

SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES
There are alot of subscription services in media not only the prime examples of playstation plus and xbox live but more such as ea access, fortnite battlepass, battlefield premium and more.
These services offer the player 'extra' items such as ea access, fortnite battlepass and battlefield premium offer more additional content however the fortnite battlepass offers cosmetic items only because they don't want to go against player advantage and start introducing that even though there is some sort of advantage. However playstation plus and xbox live are subscription services that allow online connection and free games which draws the player in to wanting to be able to play online and have exclusive free games to play.
Sibscription services are the idea of selling a product or a service to recieve monthly or yearly income and revenue such as netflix where you choose a plan that suits your ideal budget and you pay through it through direct debit ideally and you get the service aslong as you pay for it, another form of this is playstation plus and xbox live, spotify is also one where you cna pay monthly or yearly for a set price and you have the option to turn off auto renewal on subscriptions. Many of apps and online services do this as it's a way to make additional money from people whilst them not realising they have to pay monthly or yearly and this is a positive thing because if you have the money for it you don't need to manually go out and buy it you can just turn on auto renewal and go on about your day. Lootcrate and real world lootboxes do this as well where you can p[pay to a monthly subscription and get certain items delivered to your house that are like collectibles or just things you're into.

SERVICES
Theres a lot of services on sony and microsoft's side such as the required live services and persistent online connections
an example of online connections would be monster hunter world as it's an only online persistent game that requires an online connection at all times.
There are also services that keep the gameplay updated by microtransactions, this is called live servicing and usually seen in free to play games, EA are one of the biggest supporters of live servicing as they want to keep their game yet just add new things to it constantly including paid promoion such as lootboxes.
Services also include Xbox live and EA services that require you to pay a certain amount of money per month/year to get access to online, gold and ea games.
Live services are great things to invest your money into because not only do they let you play alot of games they allow you to be online and try out new games too!

OUTSOURCING
Outsourcing has a broad effect on companies, obviously moving copies of games from physical to digital distribution would be seen as outsourcing. The copies of games and how they're sold digitally and physically by different retailers and companies such as CEX,gamestop etc
Outsourcing is where you buy products or goods via contract by a supplier so for instance apple with their relationship with the chinese manufacturing firm Foxconn. Outsourcing is used because the cost of labor is low when you outsource and it lowers the price of the items when you ship back. Another example of outsourcing would be when sony outsource their LCD TV's and they wangt to keep their outsourcing on high-end as a result.

LOOT BOXES
In games Loot boxes are a virtual item which a player can open to recieve a randomized set of virtual items caling on how rare so for example a game call of duty has legendary and epic items legendary being the highest tier item to get. Some loot boxes have an advanced role of getting a certain tier item which is higher than others however usually costs more than a standard loot box. The idea of loot boxes stemmed from loot systems in online games and are quite common in free-to-play games and loot boxes are designed to keep players interested in the game and purchase through micro transactions generating ongoing revenue and keeping players interested in cosmetic items this is popular with the game fortnite.
Loot boxes were popular with the game Overwatch and later on games started introducing loot boxes and micro transactions however this recieved a lot of backlash and criticismsuch as starwars battlefront II for example. Various critiques stated that lootboxes are similar to pay to win gameplay systems that favour those who spend money on micro transactions and lootboxes that gives them a 'higher advantage' at the game and those who don't participate in buying lootboxes and microtransactions are 'less favoured' by the game and recieve negative effects. However amongst all of this lootboxes have actually been regulated in a gambling law in regions such as china, japan, and australia.
Loot boxes can be obtained by the character leveling up on a multiplayer game stereo typically, players can also buy them through
